What You as a Player Need to Know, about Cleveland By Night

It’s All Just a Game…
And We Should Treat it As Such. This Project does include House Rules due to some material and creatures not having been adapted or released yet as well as for the enjoyment of the game for players and to make Storytelling flow better. Please Review The Cleveland By Night Standards of Play and Storytelling 2.1.0

The Setting Cleveland, Ohio – A Great City and a Great Place to…
… Disappear on the Great Lakes! Cleveland, Ohio is a city with a 2024 population of 372,000+ people, and its sprawling suburbs in Northeastern Ohio City more than keep your past guessing while you find your future. Mortally speaking, there are several businesses, schools, and places to reside in this bustling commuting community. Supernaturally speaking? Supernaturally speaking Cleveland is a great place to start over. Well they say none of the information coming out of Cleveland, Ohio can be trusted as the balance of factions and creatures is ever fluctuating. Do we have access to the Arts? Fine Dining? The Theatre? Of course! … But like any other thriving city we also have Crime! And Controversies and plenty of Scandals to entertain your less than savory side. I am going to level with you though, there’s been a bit of a concern abuzz these past few weeks. Something just isn’t quite right and a lot of the nightlife/night-unlife leadership folks have been pretty quiet. Its as concerning as it is freeing.
So come one, come all, come to Cleveland. – A Cleveland Vamp’s Perspective

Player Assistance…

When in doubt, reach out to your storyteller. Goodness knows we have a few of them. We can be reached on Discord or by showing up early to a game session. So don’t worry. Plus if time is of the essence, we always have premades and a mentorship program.

Now there are some things Players always ask for and here is the short list FAQ of sorts to help with a few common questions:

Clans / Creatures /Etc That are Playable for a First Character (Click for Drop Down)

So to keep it simple, the main thing is – New Players have to get vetted and shown the ropes. Even those who are familiar with the game are not necessarily familiar with the group or the story.

  1. New characters usually come in with 0 – 25 XP at the Lead Storyteller’s discretion based on current Character base.
  2. Players generally are asked to play a vampire first, as that is the creature type with the most source material and In Character Support/Numbers. Hunter and Werewolves can be played by Lead ST Approval.
  3. First time characters will not be of the ‘wayward’ path – so no Sabbat, BSD/White Howler type stuff.
  4. Tszimisce, Ravnos, Salubri, Ministry, Samedi (via Lore Sheet) are unavailable for First Characters.
  5. We recommend not being a ‘lone wolf’ concept for any character- especially the first character. You won’t get the 1:1 attention or story you’re expecting. Participation and enjoyment is in your hands.
  6. Again- we don’t use the Blood and Love book. It’s not conducive to healthy public/group games.
